Customization and craftsmanship
We are a flexible company. If you have specific wishes, we’d love to hear about them and help you find what you are looking for. Tables can be cut or otherwise adjusted to your needs. Together with you we will determine the height, material and shape of the legs, and the finish of the table. Our cabinet makers will put much effort in the bottom of the table top. Steel strips or T-bars will be milled in out of precaution. We also work with dowels. On request, and at additional cost, we can fill holes and cracks in your table with epoxy.
Our colletions tree slab tables consists mostly of table tops made of the sustainably obtained wood albizia saman from Thailand. The wood type is also known as suar, raintree, monkey pod and tabaca. Albizia saman can be found on several places in the tropical area. Yet it is no indigenous tree in South East Asia. The trees are mostly planted alongside roads and in parks and do not occur in the natural rainforest. As a matter of fact, the Thai “Forest Department”, the organization which is engaged in protecting the forests in Thailand, sees the Albizia saman tree as an unwelcome guest. Albizia saman originally comes from South and Central America. A few centuries ago people started introducing the tree species to other countries with a more suitable climate, like Thailand. This is why we know there is no primeval forest being cut for our tree slab tables. More so, with our financial support to FORRU-MCU we ensure that more indigenous trees are being planted.
Large stock
Every tree slab table is unique. Because the material is natural, no trunk table will be the same. It is very special that every table consists of only one whole piece of wood. We always have a beautiful collection of tables in stock in our showroom or workplace and we invite you to visit us in Heeten, The Netherlands to come and have a look for yourself.
Select a tree slab table
We’d love to advise you about the finishing of your table. Specifically with the selection of the right legs and the best location for the legs our experience can come in handy. There are many variables you’ll have to take into consideration when you select a table. Possible choices are length, width, thickness, wood color (some tables are slightly darker than others), whether or not you like cracks and wholes, the shape and of course the drawings in the wood. It is recommended that when you want to visit our shop you first have a look on our website to select some tables which are interesting for you. Our website is our catalog. Every piece is unique, so every piece has an unique photo.
When you let us know beforehand which tables you are interested in, we can make sure the tables are ready for viewing. Please make sure that the tables you select have the size you are looking for.
Of course it would be most ideal if you visit our showroom to see our tables In real life. If it is not possible for you to visit us, you can always contact us by email or phone to come to an agreement. You can order your table online.
The right conditions for the maintaining your tree slab table
One of the charms of a natural product like wood is that it can still work a little bit. It is important that the humidity in your room or office is right, preferably between 50 and 60% (the same goes for piano’s and wooden floors). Also it is logical that you do not place the table right in front of an fireplace. You can measure the humidity on your room with a hygrometer which is for sale (in The Netherlands) from €5.00 on the internet. Whenever the humidity falls below 50% (this is possible in Dutch winters) it is important to have a humidifier and place it in proximity of your table. You can read more about maintaining your table on this page.
