Epoxy: a beautiful finish with points of attention

Epoxy can have a spectacular effect on both petrified and natural wood. It fills in natural gaps and deepens the colours, making the material stand out even more. Some customers choose to have their table cast entirely in epoxy, and we are happy to carry out these orders.

However, there are also some points to consider when using epoxy:

  1. Costs
High-quality epoxy that is not sensitive to UV light is relatively expensive. Nobody wants a table that discolours yellow after a short time, which is why we only use epoxy of the best quality. The price of an epoxy table depends on the specific top.
  2. Scratch sensitivity
Epoxy is sensitive to scratches. A table with an epoxy coating requires careful handling: the use of coasters is necessary and all household members must be aware of the vulnerability. For families with young children or people who like to watch TV with their feet on the table, epoxy may be less suitable.

Only fill holes with epoxy

In addition to full epoxy coatings, it is also possible to fill only the natural holes in the wood or the petrified wood. In this case, we pour epoxy in and around the holes and then polish the surface back to the original stone or wood. This is especially a good solution for those who want a smooth table top without gaps.

This service comes at an additional cost as it is a time-consuming process.
